The Bean Scribble

The Bean Scribble: A Father's Journey to LAPREUVE

In 2019, I made a life-altering decision: to leave behind the familiar streets of Little Rock, Arkansas, and relocate to Atlanta, Georgia. This move wasn't driven by career ambitions or a change of scenery but by a profound desire to be closer to my daughter, affectionately nicknamed "Bean." When she and her mother moved to Atlanta in 2018, the 500-mile distance between us became an insurmountable barrier to the relationship I yearned to nurture.

Reflecting on my own childhood, I vividly recall the confusion and longing that accompanied my father's absence. I was too young to understand why he wasn’t there. All I could comprehend is that he wasn’t there. Determined not to let history repeat itself, I packed up my life and headed to Atlanta, intent on being the present father I wished I'd had.

Transitioning to a new city presented its challenges. My established graphic design business, which thrived in the cost-effective environment of Little Rock, was not enough to sustain the way I wanted to live in Atlanta's more expensive market. Financial constraints motivated my creativity in how I spent time with Bean. Extravagant outings were off the table, but I was determined to ensure that our moments together were meaningful and memorable.

One weekend, inspiration struck. I presented the idea to Bean that we create a painting together. Her eyes lit up with excitement; her innate creativity and love for art made this the perfect activity. We made a trip to Michaels, gathering canvases, paints, and brushes, each item fueling our anticipation.

Once home, I began by meticulously painting the KYNGSYX Ensemble logo onto the canvas, envisioning a blend of abstract art with intricate details. Once my part was complete, I handed the reins to Bean. My instructions were simple, “Do you.” With unbridled enthusiasm, she selected the brightest colors and began to paint, her tiny hands moving with both determination and joy. Her spontaneous strokes, which I lovingly dubbed the "Bean Scribble," brought the canvas to life, infusing it with a vibrancy only a child could impart.

After allowing the paint to cure for a couple of days, we carefully removed the protective tape to reveal our collaborative masterpiece. The result was breathtaking—a harmonious fusion of structured design and free-spirited expression. I was so enamored with the outcome that I went on to create additional pieces, each one a testament to our bond and shared creativity.

This experience was a revelation. It proved that the essence of building relationships isn't rooted in monetary expenditures but in the thoughtfulness and intentionality behind shared moments. This philosophy became the cornerstone of LAPREUVE Extrait de Parfum.

When it came time to design the bottle for LAPREUVE, there was no question that our "Bean Scribble" would take center stage. The artwork symbolizes not just a fragrance but a narrative of love, dedication, and the unbreakable bond between father and daughter. Crafted in Paris over three meticulous years, every facet of LAPREUVE has been thoughtfully curated to encapsulate this journey.

LAPREUVE isn't merely a scent; it's an experience, an embodiment of a story that speaks to the heart. It's a reminder that true connection and inspiration often stem from the simplest, most heartfelt moments.
